Southfields Library: New scheme to ensure children have access to books

Southfields Library has now reopened on a reduced schedule (Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat 10 am – 2.30 pm). Due to coronavirus restrictions, browsing the book shelves is not yet allowed. This makes choosing books especially difficult for younger children, who rely on visuals and time to explore the library in order to find the books they enjoy.

To help ensure children can access books, the Children’s Librarian, Patrick Malone, is offering book bundles to parents and carers.

Simply email Patrick at e:, phone the library on t: 020 8780 1945 and leave a message for Patrick, or contact him through the new Librarian Facebook page:

In the message please say what your child likes e.g. previous books enjoyed, TV shows he or she watches, or describe their general interests. State their age, how many books they would like, and provide a Library Card number.

With that information, Patrick will select the books and put them aside for you to collect from Southfields Library.

Your support would be much appreciated in helping Southfields Library to reach out to any groups or individuals who need access books in these difficult times.
